Recipe Prep Checklist

This recipe prep checklist is a practical companion to Vacation Cafe Simulator cooking. It does not replace the in-game recipe book. It helps you translate a pinned dish into a shopping run, a cleared station, and a dining room ready for hospitality.

Master checklist before every open

  • Recipe learned in the book
  • Recipe pinned on screen
  • Ingredient list copied to shopping notes
  • Town shop visit completed and paid
  • Specialty stops finished (farm / winery / coastal) if required
  • Tools and boards clear
  • Heat appliance available and understood
  • Plates / servingware within reach
  • Front-of-house path walked once
  • Open/closed plan decided

Pair with Controls if pin/recipe keys are still fuzzy, and with Cooking and Recipes for technique context.

Dish card template

Copy one card per menu item:

Dish name:

  • Ingredients to buy:
  • Stations used (prep / mix / heat / plate / drink):
  • Estimated prep difficulty (1鈥?):
  • Who owns this dish in co-op:
  • Served with drink?:
  • Cleanup notes:

Starter dish families

Use these reminder lists when official recipes match the early cafe fantasy. Always verify against your current build鈥檚 recipe book.

Cheese plate style

  • Assorted cheeses listed in-book
  • Knife and plate ready
  • Serving path to first table clear

Bruschetta / Caprese style

  • Bread / ciabatta
  • Tomato and basil (or listed produce)
  • Cutting board space
  • Assembly plate

Pizza style

  • Dough ingredients / base components
  • Sauce and cheese toppings
  • Oven interaction understood
  • Peel/plate handoff point chosen

Drink support

  • Bottles or ingredients in stock
  • Glassware location known
  • Server assigned in co-op

Shopping route checklist

  1. Pin dish at home.
  2. Walk to primary shop with list only 鈥?no impulse clutter.
  3. Pay, return, stage on counters.
  4. If a specialty ingredient is missing, decide whether to close for Exploration or change the menu.
  5. Re-check the pinned recipe before opening.

Station reset checklist between seatings

  • Dirty prep tools cleared
  • Trash / scraps handled as the game requires
  • Pass free of finished dishes that nobody delivered
  • Tables cleaned after departures
  • Next dish still pinned or intentionally swapped

Service cleanup details are in Serving Customers.

Co-op prep callouts

  • Shopper reads ingredients aloud before leaving.
  • Prep cook calls 鈥渂oard ready.鈥漒n- Finisher calls 鈥減late up.鈥漒n- Server calls 鈥渢able clear.鈥漒n Put names into the Cafe Day Planner.

When the checklist fails

If you keep returning to the shop mid-open, your planning window is too short 鈥?close sooner. If stations are clear but guests wait, the bottleneck is service staffing. If everything is ready but the dish will not start, you may lack an upgrade; see Cafe Upgrades.

Demo players can run this checklist beside the Demo Walkthrough. New owners should skim Getting Started once, then live in this checklist for actual sessions. Hardware gatekeeping stays on System Requirements.

A ticked list is not anti-cozy. It is how you protect the vacation mood from the only timer that matters: your friends waiting in the lobby while someone forgets basil.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about cooking, service, co-op, and launch prep.

Should I check ingredients in-game or on this page?

Always trust the in-game recipe book first. Use this page as a planning and accountability layer.

How many dish cards should I prep?

One signature and at most two support items per session keeps the pass manageable.

Can this checklist help co-op?

Yes. Assign each dish card owner and use the callouts so shopping and plating stay synchronized.

What if a specialty ingredient is unavailable in the demo?

Swap to an available recipe and note the limitation; full-game exploration may expand later.
